Happy Summer Weekends

Summer weekends are the best... especially when you get to spend it with your best friend.

This weekend we:

1) Went hiking in Griffith Park. Almost made it to the Hollywood sign. (But, it was too hot. So, we ran back down the mountain instead.)

2) Had dinner with our friends (the Zieglers) and saw Anais Mitchel in concert at the Levitt Pavilion in Pasadena (where there are free concerts every Wednesday-Sunday this summer. Check it out here.)

3) Made Black Forest Cherry cupcakes. Had some issues with the frosting this time. After 3 tries (and and handful of bad frosting flung against our kitchen backsplash) we finally had success. Want the recipe? Love me some Annie's Eats.

4) Rode our bikes for breakfast at the Black Cat Bakery. We've been wanting to try it for a while (since we drive by it every time we come home from the gym.) However, we were sort of disappointed. Their Apple, Bacon, Cheddar Omelet wasn't that fabulous and their Breakfast Sandwich was average. We LOVED the potatoes though. I'm a sucker for potatoes.

5) Lucky for us, Black Cat is right next to tini... the best vintage furniture store in LA (albeit overpriced.) We've been looking for a floor lamp, side table, and TV stand to finish off our apartment decor. We LOVED this little table - thought it would be great for our TV...

...only to find out it was $850. Yikes! What a bummer. So, we just wandered around the store instead:

 4) We caved and saw a matinee of Transformers. Exactly what we thought it would be.

5) Made a delish (German) dinner. Oma would be proud (OK, fine. Macaroni and Cheese - from a box - isn't very German. But, it's good. And it's from Trader Joe's. And it's organic. So there.)

Back to work tomorrow. Boo.
