Our Favorite LA Restaurants: Part 1

Zach and I love a good plate of food.

And, now that we live in Hollywood, we have easy access to some of the best food in Southern California.

We're not technically foodies, but if you're ever in the LA area and need a place to eat: here are a few of our humble suggestions.

1. Susan Feniger's Street in West Hollywood.

This is definitely one of the most creative restaurants I've ever been to. All the food is based on street food from around the world... just more sophisticated. Everything's served tapas-style, so in one meal you can have Mandoo Vegetable Dumplings, Burmese Melon Salad, and Thai Rice Noodles. Yums!

2. Shaky Alibi in West Hollywood.

We literally eat here once a week. Think you've had good waffles before? Then, you've never had these. These waffles blow all other waffles out of the water.

Zach's go-to order? Savory waffle sandwich (with Turkey and Swiss) and extra Cholula sauce.

My fav? Sweet waffles (sans syrup) with dark chocolate spread and bananas.

3. The Village Idiot on Melrose.

If you're in the mood for fabulous gastropub cuisine, this is your place. From pot pies to burgers to grilled chicken, the food here is crazy good. It's always crowded though (ignore the picture above) - so make sure you're ready to wait for a table. It'll be worth it, I promise.

4. Viet Noodle Bar in Atwater Village.

If you like Vietnamese food, you will LOVE this place.

That's all.

5. Lemonade in lots of different places.

Lemonade now has locations throughout the Los Angeles area. So, I'm never really far from one. This is good - because I never know when I'll get a craving for a "cauliflower, almond, golden raisin, and curry" salad, or a "turkey, dried cranberry, gruyere" pot roast, or a cucumber-mint lemonade. (Yep. It's always a party in your mouth.)

More to come...
